JAMES STOCKTON BENSON

BENSON, JAMES STOCKTON, merchant and legislator, was born October 4, 1883, at Langston, Jackson County; son of Newton Wesley and Susan (Middleton) Benson; grandson of James and Susan Benson.

He was educated in the schools of his native town and at Jacksonville State Normal College; taught one year after which he engaged in the mercantile business.

He represented Jackson County in the legislature of 1907. He is a Democrat; Presbyterian; Mason; and a Woodman of the World.

Married:
June 5, 1906, to Mary Ethel, daughter of John and Mary Downey, of Jackson County.

Residence: Langston.
